"JCM has done various home improvement jobs for me in, two homes, over the past eight years. In 2011, JCM renovated the entire floor of a home in the Bronx. The work included the renovation of a bathroom, kitchen, and the installation of new windows and wrought iron entry doors. In 2013, JCM renovated the entire house in preparation for sale. The work included the renovation of another bathroom and kitchen, restoration of hardwood floors in five rooms and two hallways, installation of a 12 windows, renovation of front entry way (door and stoop), painting the entire inside of the house, roof repairs, installation of a backyard fence, etc. When the house was listed, the first people that viewed it bought it. In 2014, JCM renovated the first floor of my primary house in, Westchester County, to accommodate an aging parent. In addition to major jobs, Jose has never failed to respond to minor job requests over the ensuing years.

Jose Matias has been a godsend. He does almost all of the work himself. He is a “stickler-for-detail;” a craftsman with an artist’s touch. He has always stood behind his work and if you have a question or a need for him to return for any adjustments, his response has, consistently, been immediate. Jose and his associate, Ada, are a joy to work with. I’ve worked with many contractors, over the past 60 years; in a number of states and locations. JCM is the best I’ve ever worked with."

"We can’t heap enough praise on the quality of Jose’s workmanship. A consummate professional, Jose has a tremendous work ethic and his attention to detail is second to none. He also solved a huge logistical problem for us in an amazingly creative way. The refrigerator I had bought from Sears, and which I had my heart set on, wouldn’t quite fit through our kitchen door, even with the fridge doors off. I was about to send it back and order something else I didn’t really want, when Jose found a way to kill two birds with one stone – he was able to take the door frame off to enlarge the opening and then construct a new door frame that could accommodate the louvre doors I had had originally wanted to close off the space. I now have both the fridge and the doors, and it looks great.

"A few final observations. At the end of every work day the kitchen space was tidied up and all debris was removed. The refrigerator was hooked up the entire time so that we could have some basic use of the kitchen during the renovations. Jose developed an excellent working relationship with our co-op’s super and building staff—they couldn’t say enough about how easy he was to work with and have in the building."

The process of renovating a kitchen is never easy. We learned to live among boxes in the living room and eat take-out from the end of our coffee table for a few weeks. But once the work was done and everything was put back into place, the discomfort quickly faded away as we now have a truly beautiful, efficient, and up-to-date kitchen to cook in and show off to our friends.

More importantly, using their suppliers and contacts they made certain the costs were kept very reasonable and that the products were of the highest quality.
